It has always been our mission to prove that the brilliant technology we have developed to support integrated care in the Yorkshire & Humber can be clinically useful within this financial year.  We are very excited to report that we are almost there – the data to support our first live clinical pilot with the Brachytherapy Team in Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust was tested last week and we are on track to get this pilot team live by the end of the year.  We aim to share local hospital information for Rotherham patients who are receiving cancer care in Leeds.  This pilot will help the team in Leeds to gain a better understanding of the patient’s journey before they were transferred to Leeds.

We are also working with our other Wave 1 organisations who are Yorkshire Ambulance Service, Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals Trust, Humber Teaching Hospitals Trust  on sharing Mental Health Crisis plans and emergency transfers of care.  Whilst these are all pilots and in some cases involve only a few patient records so we can learn everything we need to operate at a larger scale, these developments are exciting and a step forward for regional integrated care.

We are working hard to ensure that the System of Systems solution we have developed is secure and scalable beyond the pilots mentioned above.  Cloud hosting is a very important part of that.  Good progress is being made in migrating the System of Systems to the Google Cloud Platform and we now have operational versions of many of the regional YHCR products in the Cloud ready to take live subjects to appropriate security and clinical safety assessment. The Cloud products have been written specifically for this purpose and they take full advantage of the opportunities for scalability and high availability which are afforded by the Cloud. A comprehensive suite of tests run automatically against the Cloud products and these can be viewed at
